THE UNDOING, Crazy Whodunit with A-list actors Hugh Grant, Nicole Kidman, and Noah Jupe. it will keep you guessing till the very end! Only 6-episodes—don’t miss!
P-VALLEY, Excellent Fun Story with a cast of wacky characters that you just love! --Disclaimer: Adults Only and Modern-Minded folk, because e’rybody in this movie, hookers, hustlers, dancers, sex galore, pole dancing and everythang going on down in P-Valley—Remember, bring your fun mind when you watch—8 episodes to Season 1—has been renewed for Season 2!—not for faint at heart!
YELLOWSTONE My Fav at the moment—Kevin Costner as MR. JOHN DUTTON is kray-kray fine and the acting is off the chain. I love the cast of characters, especially the top man RIP, played by Cole Hause and BETH DUTTON portrayed by the great Kelly Reilly. You cannot stop watching this show once you’re hooked in. Three seasons out, another expected in June.
POWER BOOK II – GHOST You already know, 50 cent and Courtney Kemp have done it again! This show is amazing, and Mary J. Blige carries her part as drug Queenpin AUNTIE MONET well. So many cool stars like Method Man and Naturi Naughton, just too many to name—ADDICTIVE FOR REAL. Catch my Power First Thoughts Series on my YouTube Channel to catch up! Because get ready, POWER BOOK III- Raising Kanan, is coming out this June 2021!! Cannot wait, should be off the chain with the backdrop story on 50 cents character from the original Power series, as KANAN!
OZARKS Probably the best show on cable but we are waiting the 5th? Season—it is krazy and the lead actor and writing are fabulous. I just love lines that the lead characters MARTY and WENDY BRYDE (played by Jason Bateman and Laura Linney) drop on everyone. Of course, this show and Jason Bateman, has raked in countless awards. Every line on that show is well written, and it is soooo addictive, you cannot get enough of it, and it always keep you on the edge of your seat! It's loaded with unpredictability and crime. BUTT, you love the family, and you hate the drug cartel but what’s a rich money laundering fool to do!?
THE QUEEN SHOW(s)—anything to do with The Queen(s) is so good to watch. First off-The Crown is fascinating, it is the true story about The Queen of England, present day Elizabeth II, who is 94 years old! And to know that she and her hubby, Prince Phillip Duke of Edinburgh, 99 years old, are alive and very well! I heard that the Queen herself loves the show—remember that one, The Crown. Next, the Spanish Queen, was rather good too, and the The White Queen—both shows play around with historical facts a bit, so enjoy the show(s) and do your own research.
Then there is the British blockbuster written by Shondaland, BRIDGERTON, finally a romantic period show headlined by Black actors, and even the Queen, along with the main protagonist a young eligible gent, SIMON DUKE OF HASTINGS, happens to be Black (portrayed by British-Zimbabwean actor Regé-Jean Page). This show was so different and refreshing and full of great delicious rumors, sex and lies, that it could have been a Wendy Williams episode, all about gossip, sex, and bullshit back in the 1800s Regency-era’s “social season” whereby the debutantes were presented at court. Let me tell you--do not miss BRIDGETON--You might be pleasantly surprised by how much you like it!
One of the Best Series of the Year, the Chess Movie—THE QUEEN’S GAMBIT Ana Taylor-Joy is stellar in her portrayal of BETH HARMON, an orphaned prodigy chess player—I swear after the pandemic I’m gonna take group Chess classes. Fascinating. And, only a 7-episode Miniseries--LOVED IT!
BILLIONS—A longtime favorite of mine pre-pandemic—BILLIONS is a show that will teach you soooo much about the money game and politics abound, right out of today's headlines—crooked, crooked, white collar, hedge fund mania and super rich techies—the cast is an outrageous mixture of every type in the world. Starring superstars Damien Lewis as BOBBY AXELROD and Paul Giamatti as STATE’S ATTORNEY CHUCK RHOADES. And, get this, BILLIONS is the first show with a nonbinary character, “TAYLOR” portrayed brilliantly by the actor Asia Kate Dillon. This show is super good, full of high stakes games, mental play, sex, drugs and yes, sometimes even rock n’ roll, when the players go out on the town. This is an amazing series that will teach you what you never knew about MONEY! Going into its 8th Season—BILLIONS is a bonafide hit!
WENTWORTH—Best Prison Show On presently. Different than HBO’s renowned Oz, this is the female version of Oz, but I have never—no, I have not! Great writing, direction, and another super addiction. Make sure you have a lot of time, because you cannot get enough of WENTWORTH. Especially the big, tall, powerful warden of the prison, JOAN FERGUSON, portrayed by the very skillful actor, Pamela Rabe. She is evil incarnate, and her vulnerable sidekick, that you grow to love, VERA BENNETT is painstakingly portrayed by actor Kate Atkinson. Also, there are so many inmates vying for power, I'm certain you'll find one that you will be rooting for--what a great tale! And, I have to say the foreign actors, Australian, British, Scottish, are all kicking American actors’ azzes. They just got it like that—I love them! And this writing was off the chain. DO NOT MISS WENTWORTH!
OUTLANDER—another pre-pandemic show that’s been running for a few years. You must see it from the beginning to keep up. It is an epic time warp series, where a woman is living in two different worlds, and somehow they cross paths. However, the trick is that they be sure not to collide and "alter" world events, which they've discovered, depending on what they are, cannot be profoundly changed. Very interesting concept, and a great love story that withstands the test of time. As history goes, has a variety of events, that are sometimes hard to watch; gritty at times when necessary; cruel like history; and some very heartfelt scenes for balance. You will either be hooked or not—but in order to keep up, you cannot miss or skip one episode. OUTLANDER—another foreign “Scottish” favorite! 67-episodes over 5 seasons and is expected to have a 6th season—stay tuned!
DESIGNATED SURVIVOR You must watch from the beginning to buy into it and then that’s it! You’re hooked, Keifer Sutherland is very believable as the new president THOMAS KIRKMAN in this super-timely White House west wing with a match lit to it kind of series. It has 53 episodes over 3 seasons and has run its course to show end—get ready to binge!
PERFECT FOR BLACK HISTORY MONTH and whenever, THE UNITED STATES VS. BILLIE HOLIDAY—A magnificent film beyond repose by director Lee Daniels. An absolute must watch.! Update: Andra Day WON the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress and has also been Nominated for Oscar 2021 Best Actress!! The true story of the tortured, addicted great Billie Holiday, and how her actions of singing her signature song “Strange Fruit” brought all kind of hell down on her, because it was a subtle yet powerful song to explain the horrors of lynching and racism in America. Before there was a “civil rights movement” Billie Holiday stood as a quiet first amongst the many voices to follow. A sad, beautiful rendition of Billie Holliday’s life with actor ANDRA DAY portraying Ms. Holiday. See it FEBRUARY 26TH ON HULU!
Finally, last but certainly not least, the one I am currently watching—YOUR HONOR—ohmigod Bryan Cranston is tearing this show up as nice guy JUDGE MICHAEL DESIATO--turned corrupt--that will, and is doing, any and everything under the son to save his lyin’ son. His acting is off the chain!!! What would you expect? I cannot shake it though, to me, he is still "Heisenberg" or "Walter White" from Breaking Bad—one of the best shows of all time! Bryan Cranston really is one of the greatest actors of the century!! You will be on the edge of your seat—what a convincing liar, OMG, he makes Marty from Ozarks look like an angel. Only 10 episodes in this bombastic series—I absolutely loved it! DON’T MISS YOUR HONOR!!!
